Status and rollup
Statuses
Section titled “Statuses”Every item has one of five statuses, listed here from least to most severe:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| retired | Out of service for good. Ignored by rollup. |
| operational | Working as expected. |
| maintenance | Being serviced. |
| attention | Usable, but something needs a look. |
| faulty | Not usable. |
Changing a status is recorded in the activity feed. Setting an item to faulty notifies its watchers and all admins, if that rule is enabled in Settings.
Rollup
Section titled “Rollup”An item’s own status only describes that item. The rolled-up status describes the whole unit:
- Start with the item’s own status.
- Look at every component inside it, at any depth, skipping retired ones. Take the most severe status.
- If any slot anywhere in the tree holds fewer items than its quantity and the result so far is operational, it becomes attention.
When a component causes the rolled-up status, Zimmet names it. For example, drone_001 shows faulty, because of battery_002.
Components that are attention or faulty are listed as issues on the parent’s page and in the field view, so someone holding the drone sees which part is the problem.
