Custody handovers
Every item can have a custodian: the person it is entrusted to (zimmet). Custody changes through handovers, and the other side confirms each one, so the record shows what both people agreed was handed over.
Starting a handover
Section titled “Starting a handover”There are two ways to start one, from the item page, the field view or Custody (/custody):
| Who starts it | Action | Who confirms |
|---|---|---|
| The current custodian | Offer the item to someone | The recipient |
| Anyone else | Request the item | The current custodian |
Both can include a note. An item has at most one pending handover at a time.
Shortcuts:
- Items nobody holds can be taken directly. A request on an unheld item completes immediately.
- Admins can assign a custodian directly, without a handover.
Accepting
Section titled “Accepting”The person confirming the handover sees a short checklist:
- Components. Each component installed in the item is listed. Tick the ones that are actually there. Unticked components are recorded as missing.
- Condition. Confirm the item’s status (for example, accept it as attention because of a scratched arm). The item’s status is updated to match.
- Note. An optional comment.
When accepted, the recipient becomes the custodian. The person who started the handover is notified either way.
Declining and cancelling
Section titled “Declining and cancelling”- The confirming side can decline, with an optional note. Custody doesn’t change.
- The side that started it can cancel while it is pending.
- Deleting an item cancels its pending handover.
History
Section titled “History”Custody (/custody) lists:
- Handovers waiting for you to confirm.
- Handovers you started that are still pending.
- Items you currently hold.
- History of completed handovers. You see the ones you took part in. Admins see all of them.
Every handover event (offered, requested, accepted, declined, cancelled) is also written to the item’s activity feed.
