Quick start
This walkthrough takes about five minutes. The demo comes with a seeded drone fleet, so you can also just explore. Reset it any time from Settings → Data.
1. Create the types
Section titled “1. Create the types”Go to Types (/types) and create three types:
| Name | Prefix | Labels |
|---|---|---|
| GPS Module | gps |
Model (choice: M8N, M9N) |
| Battery | battery |
Capacity (number, mAh) |
| Drone | drone |
Serial (text), Firmware (text) |
The prefix is used for item codes: gps gives gps_001, gps_002, …
2. Say what a drone contains
Section titled “2. Say what a drone contains”Open Drone and add two components under Components: 1 × GPS Module and 2 × Battery.
3. Create items
Section titled “3. Create items”From the Items page (/items), create one drone, one GPS module and two batteries. Use bulk create for more than one at a time. Codes are assigned automatically.
drone_001 now shows three empty slots, and its rolled-up status is attention.
4. Install the parts
Section titled “4. Install the parts”Open drone_001 and install the GPS and both batteries into their slots. You can also drag and drop in the tree on Assemblies (/assemblies). Once every slot is filled, the drone is operational.
5. Report a problem
Section titled “5. Report a problem”Set one battery to faulty. The drone’s rolled-up status turns faulty too, and the battery is named as the cause. See Status and rollup.
6. Hand it over
Section titled “6. Hand it over”On the drone’s page, hand over custody to another user. Switch to that user from the sidebar user menu and accept: tick off the components that are there and confirm the condition. See Custody handovers.
